Impressive Tuscany Castle: Castello Di Sammezzano
Castello Di Sammezzano, Reggello
A Moorish palace in the middle of Tuscany
Castello Di Sammezzano west of Reggello is one the most famous non-tourist castles in Tuscany. Located in a solitary position on the mountain, the palace became known by the Internet buzzword abandoned, as it has not been actively used since the hotel use ended at the 1990s. Castello Di Sammezzano, with its large park, is an extraordinary ensemble of great cultural and historical importance. The castle is a prime example of the architectural trend of Orientalism, which spread in Europe at the beginning of the 19th century and found an important center in Florence. After several recent auctions failed, the property is still awaiting the go-ahead for a new future in 2021, because even if the surface still seems impeccable in many places - the need for investment is now said to be well into the double-digit millions.
The staircase shown here almost has to be described as
unobtrusivein contrast to the lavishly designed and oversized rooms.
