Palace in Szymanów (Mazovia)
Pałac w Szymanowie, Szymanów
Szymanów (sochaczewski county, Mazovia) is located about 60 km west of Warsaw. Sanguszko family commissioned the first design of the castle at the end of the 18th century. It was initially a strictly classicist building, which was substantially expanded and "historicized" about 100 years later when it was owned by the Lubomirski family. The elongated building was given a semicircular side wing with a characteristic columned loggia on the garden side.
A Catholic religious community has been located here since 1907. All buildings including the palace, the cavalier's house and the farm buildings have been reconstructed several times for this purpose. In 2002, the east wing of the castle received a modern chapel extension.
A few km south of Szymanów is the famous Sobańskich Palace in Guzów.
