Warsaw's surrounding area is known for its sophisticated and densely landscaped places, where wealthy citizens had numerous villas and summer residences built at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, mainly Poland's celebrities and financial elite have settled there. Properties and houses in Milanówek, Podkowa Leśna, Józefów, Sulejówek or Konstancin-Jeziorna are among the most sought-after and highly priced residential locations around the Polish capital.
At the top: Konstancin-Jeziorna. There is a variety of architecture to be discovered in the town. Many villas, such as the freshly reconstructed "Villa Anna" from 1905, show a wild mix of styles from historicism or Art Nouveau combined with regional trends such as the Polish mansion style "Styl dworkowy" or "Świdermajer". The houses are often equipped with one or more glazed wooden verandas; they were typical for the summer residences of the time.
However, with all the luxury and elegance, among the historical and newly built residences, many villas are still waiting for renovation; plots of land in Konstancin are among the most expensive in the whole of Poland.
