A Baroque Gem – Schloss Lichthof
Schloss Lichthof in Saxony-Anhalt, a masterpiece from 1704, seamlessly blends Baroque elegance with modern living comfort. Originally built as a knight’s estate, it later served as the residence of the Duke of Hellersdorf and is now considered one of the region’s most impressive palaces.

The castle showcases authentic Baroque architecture with a living area of approximately 1,200 m² on a plot of around 14,500 m². It features 49 rooms, including 9 guest rooms for up to 14 people in the side wing. High-quality details such as stucco, wall paintings, and exquisite flooring—including oak parquet and handcrafted tiles from the 19th century—add historic charm to the property. The castle chapel, with original elements, is a rare treasure.
Modern amenities harmonize with the historic ambiance, offering five fully equipped bathrooms, three separate toilets, and three kitchens, including a professional-grade kitchen. A highlight is the elegant music room featuring a Blüthner grand piano, a historic piano, and a gramophone.
Original Furnishings and Additional Rooms

Outdoor Area and Castle Park
The expansive castle park extends over approximately 3,500 m² of garden space with fountains and about 11,000 m² of meadow. A 100 m² outdoor terrace with a concrete foundation offers an ideal setting for stylish events. An outdoor sauna with a relaxation room and floor-to-ceiling windows provides a tranquil retreat. The estate also includes three garages and ten parking spaces.
Condition and Use
The castle has been largely renovated and restored, maintaining its original charm. The roof was renewed and insulated in the 1990s, and all rooms are heated. There is potential for further development, offering versatile design possibilities.

History
Schloss Lichthof, also known as Baumersroda Manor, was built between 1704 and 1709 under the direction of Hans Georg aus dem Winckel. He acquired the Baumersroda estate in 1704 from Hans Moritz von Brühl and had it extensively renovated. Previously, the estate belonged to the von Brühl family.
After his death in 1729, the estate changed ownership several times. In 1737, Wilhelm Busso Marschall von Bieberstein took over the property, but financial difficulties forced him to transfer it to the guardian of the young Heinrich Moritz von der Schulenburg in 1744.
Between 1825 and 1828, the property briefly belonged to the von Jagow family before Heinrich Ferdinand von Helldorff acquired it. The von Helldorff family influenced Baumersroda’s history until the estate was expropriated in 1945.
In April 1945, the last members of the von Helldorff family left the estate, and the manor was looted. Since then, the building has served various purposes and stands today as a testament to the region’s turbulent history.
The castle is nestled in the idyllic landscape of Saxony-Anhalt, surrounded by the picturesque nature of the Saale-Unstrut Triasland. Despite its tranquil location, the region offers excellent connections to cities such as Naumburg and Leipzig. In addition to cultural and infrastructural amenities, vineyards, hiking trails, and historical attractions like the Naumburg Cathedral draw numerous visitors.
