Dawidy in Warmia is part of historic East Prussia. Warmia forms the western part of the present Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and borders directly on the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
A SHORT HISTORY
The manor Dwór Dawidy (formerly "Schloss Dawids") near Pasłęk is a true Baroque gem of former East Prussia, with features of Dutch Baroque. Between 1730 and 1731, under the commission of Alexander Emilius Dohna, a manor was built on the estate based on the plans of the family architect Johann Caspar Hindersin. The manor was built on a hill, surrounded by a landscape park. The last owner of the estate before 1945 was Alexander Dohna (Alexander Prince of Dohna-Schlobitten; 1899-1997). At that time, it was used as a hunting lodge – even today, there is a kitchen and a smoking chamber in the ground floor of the manor for processing the game. In the 19th century, Emperor Wilhelm II visited the manor with his family.
In the 1970s, the manor was a ruin with no roof, only the outer walls remaining. Extensive reconstruction and restoration works took place between 1975/78 and 2010/2015: renewal of the entire roof structure and wooden ceiling construction on the first and second floors, new roofing, windows, floors, as well as water, heating, and electrical installations, and the completion of the facade. Special care was taken during the restoration to restore the most authentic historical character.
On the upper floor, there is the former ballroom with an open fireplace and a balcony. The original stucco ceilings in the manor were not reconstructed; instead, the exposed wooden beams were left in place.
DAWIDY TODAY
Today, Dawidy is a popular boutique hotel with excellent occupancy and a unique vintage character. Numerous reviews on various travel and tourism portals from guests from Poland, Germany and all over Europe confirm the quality and special atmosphere of the house, which stands for pure rural life, nature, peace, and relaxation.
The outdoor area is complemented by relaxation and resting zones with well-kept lawns, as well as a large marquee with catering and toilet facilities, which is frequently booked for larger events and weddings.
The property includes a 4-hectare park that gently transitions into the "Lenki" nature reserve.
