A beautiful country mansion for old house lovers, who on the one hand are looking for proximity to the big city and on the other hand appreciate the idyllic life in the countryside. The village of Słomowo is located in the Wełna Valley, immediately to the west is the forest area "Puszcza Notecka".

Only about 30 km north of the regional capital Poznań stands the enchanting palace of the Turn family - a mansion by the architect Stanisław Borecki, built in 1904-1906 and a fine example of late historicism. The model for it was the small palace "Petit Trianon" in the park of Versailles, built by order of Louis XV by Ange-Jacques Gabriel for the royal mistress Madame de Pompadour and later served as the residence of Queen Marie Antoinette.

The estate in Słomowo remained in the family until 1939. After 1945, a state estate was established here. Since 1991, the property has been owned by the State Agency for Agricultural Property ("Agencja Własności Rolnej Skarbu Państwa").

Despite the many years of vacancy, the house with the dominant portico is still a representative appearance and overall still in an acceptable condition. On the garden side there is also a portico with four Corinthian columns. The decorative stone vases on high pedestals are noteworthy.

The neoclassical palace was built on an almost square ground plan with shallow risalites on all four sides. The compact two-story structure rests on a high basement covered with profiled vaults on steel beams and is crowned by a flat roof hidden behind an attic in the form of a balustrade.

On the axis of the front and rear facades, at the level of the cornice that crowns the base part, that is, at the bottom of the first floor, large terraces were designed with a staircase that leads down to the first floor, where - a few meters away from the contour of the building walls - an architectural balustrade made of bricks was executed, which corresponds in shape and decoration to the balustrade of the stairs and terraces. The balustrade surrounds the palace, leaving open areas in the axis of the entrance at the front and back, separating the space around the building.

The main entrance, located in the axis of the risalit and facade, is framed by an architectural frame in the form of a profiled band. The original, extremely valuable, single-leaf door, enclosed by a decorative wooden frame, has been preserved here, with elements of wood carving referring to the Baroque architectural decorative patterns and with decorative grilles filling the upper panel of the door and the skylight.

However, the real beauty lies in the interiors: here the stylish wooden staircase has been preserved, ornately decorated with a vine motif. Also preserved is the paneled, double-leaf door in natural wood color, which undoubtedly dates back to the time when the palace was built. The decorative details in the form of ornamental decorations are also remarkable.

The layout and spatial arrangement of the palace interiors are regular, but with a clear functional division into a representative first floor and a private residential floor. Storage and kitchen rooms were located in the high cellars.

In the immediate vicinity of the palace, at its northwest corner, there is an outbuilding. It is an older building than the present palace complex, as it is a remnant of an earlier estate built here on the initiative of Hipolit Turno after the purchase of the Slomovo estate, i.e. in the early 1880s. It is probable that the outbuilding was first used as the apartment of the administrator and later - probably - of the new owner of the estate, Jan Turno, and retained this function until the completion of the new residential building.

The palace and park complex in Słomowo has high quality architecture and considerable historical, artistic, monumental and landscape values, which significantly influence the composition and form of the immediate surroundings. These considerations have led to the ensemble being entered in the list of monuments and being protected as a historical monument.

Despite the current vacancy and the many post-war uses (including a kindergarten, agricultural offices, staff apartments and as a canteen), the castle can be made habitable and usable again in any case with appropriate means.

For buyers who are liable to pay taxes in Poland, due to a special law it is still possible until the end of 2022 to deduct not only the costs for the acquisition of this property, but also for its renovation within the framework of the tax relief "Pałacyk Plus".
