Château de Vigny near Paris
Château de Vigny, 95450 Vigny
Stately French Renaissance castle near Paris
Château de Vigny is a typical representative of the french renaissance with origins in the 15th century. Extensions and stylistic conversions in the 16th and 19th centuries. It is located northwest of Paris. Today's appearance goes back to Georges d'Amboise who was a cardinal and minister under King Ludwig XII.The entire area, consisting of castle, park, orangery, gatehouses and stables is a french monument historique of national importance since the 1980s. However, investments in the tens of millions are required for a full reconstruction.
For visitors it is currently not possible to enter the dilapidated palace. Vigny was the location of several different french film productions. You can see more of the castle in a nostalgic backdrop e.g. in the comedy "L’Animal" (german: "Ein irrer Typ") with Jean-Paul Belmondo (1977).
