Patrykozy Country Mansion – Architecturally Valuable Residence in Masovia

The Palace in Patrykozy is one of the most outstanding examples of a Neo-Gothic manor in Masovia. Like many other historic residences in Poland, the palace fell into disrepair after World War II, before being acquired by a new owner in the early 21st century, who meticulously restored this unique monument over several years with extraordinary private dedication.

SCOPE OF RENOVATION

Facade and External Architecture

  • Restoration of Neo-Gothic details, including tracery, pinnacles, and pointed arch windows.
  • Renovation of the historic facade, which regained its original appearance through conservation techniques.
  • Reconstruction of the wall surrounding the estate, emphasizing the historical character of the palace and ensuring privacy.
  • Restoration of the Neo-Gothic tower, one of the building's most distinctive architectural elements.

Interiors

  • Stucco work – expertly restored according to original patterns, giving the interiors their rich, historic character.
  • Fireplaces – preserved and renovated, including marble and stone fireplaces, adding an exceptional atmosphere to the rooms.
  • Floors – newly installed, made of high-quality oak and ash parquet.
  • Furniture – the interiors are furnished with antique furniture from the Biedermeier period, along with other stylish pieces that harmonize with the palace’s architecture.
  • Historic window and door frames – window frames have been newly crafted but retain their original appearance and functionality. The doors are not exact replicas of the originals but were designed by an architect to perfectly fit the character of the property.

Property Description

History: The construction of the palace was commissioned by General Teodor Lubicz-Szydłowski between 1832 and 1843. The renowned architect Franciszek Jaszczołd designed the building in the characteristic Neo-Gothic style, enriched with romantic elements. The palace witnessed numerous historical events and has preserved its unique charm over the centuries.

Architecture:

Building Structure and Form The palace features an irregular, picturesque form, with a dynamic spatial layout highlighted by the characteristic towers, bastion towers, and battlements typical of Neo-Gothic style. The form is reminiscent of medieval castles and fortresses, but also incorporates elements typical of 19th-century aristocratic residences.

  • Pointed arch windows – in the Gothic style, complemented by tracery and ornate frames.
  • Sculptured cornices and friezes – richly decorated facade bands that emphasize the distinctive character of the building.
  • Neo-Gothic tower and bastion – dominant elements that give the building a monumental impression and highlight the romantic style of the residence.
  • Stone portals – elegantly crafted entrances with Gothic details.

Interiors A masterful combination of Gothic and Classicism. The palace interiors have preserved their original layout, featuring spacious salons, monumental staircases, and elegant galleries. Each room was designed with consideration for proportions and decorative elements, giving the entire building exceptional artistic value.

Interior Details:

  • Stucco work and decorative friezes – elaborate decorations on walls and ceilings, crafted by 19th-century artisans.
  • Hand-carved wooden doors – each detail restored according to the original design.
  • Marble and oak floors – original panel floors have been preserved in many rooms.
  • Decorative balustrades and staircases – the Neo-Gothic staircase with carved railings adds prestige to the interiors.
