Tannenfeld Castle and Park
In 1794 Duchess Anna Dorothea of Kurland acquired the site in Tannenfeld and in the following years had a small castle built in the classicist style. She laid out a landscape park, which today contains over 50 species of rhododendrons. In 1899 Dr. med. Paul Friedrich Arthur Tecklenburg founded a modern sanatorium for the mentally and nervous ill. In 1912 the most famous patient was Rudolf Ditzen, alias writer Hans Fallada.
