Lake Maggiore Mansions: Villa Cavallini
Via Sempione 150, 28040 Lesa
Villa Cavallini is a magnificent villa with extensive gardens that once belonged to various noble Piedmontese families, including the Corsino family. It is located on the shores of Lake Maggiore in Lesa, Piedmont. As early as the early 18th century, there are records of a smaller villa located on this site, which was rebuilt towards the end of the 19th century by Turin architect Annibale Rigotti into an impressive residence with an elongated floor plan.
Along Via Sempione, the building rises unfailingly majestic on the edge of the lakeshore, reached by a closed driveway and by a flight of steps lined with figures and stone vases.
With its magnificent park, home to a variety of plants, the villa is one of the most outstanding cultural monuments of the municipality. However, it is currently without use and in need of restoration. The park and a new building constructed to the north of the villa, on the other hand, are used by the Instituto Professionale Agrario, a technical school for agriculture and the environment.
During special events, visitors have the opportunity to visit the estate on selected days and learn more about the villa, its inhabitants and the botanical garden. In the southern part of the garden there is a small chapel, built around 1870.
