Manor in Weteritz, District Altmarkkreis
Am Park, 39638 Weteritz
The historical region of the altmark is characterized by many country- and manorhouses. Most of the still existing historic buildings with today's appearance stem from the 18th century, when the altmark as part of the "Mark Brandenburg" was a central region in Prussia.
Popular noble family was the family of Alvensleben, who also owned the neoclassical styled manor in Weteritz. Like many other castles in the new german states, the manor in Weteritz is due to historical and political developments vacant until today.
However, it was sold in 2016 and although the restoration costs may lie in a seven-digit range, the abandoned building is in a comparatively good state. Inside you can find original floor tiles, wooden panels, massive wooden doors and the original staircase with artful iron handrails. The Park was designed by Lenné.
