Old Mansion in Gardkowice
Pałac w Garkowicach , Gardkowice
"Schloss Gartkewitz" - Manor house of the von Koss family in Gardkowice, a district of Łętowo in Pomerania.
Gartkewitz is quite a beautiful manor house with neo-baroque nuances in a rural solitary location. The grange extends in the western direction, but some of the former farm buildings can be seen only in rudiments.
There is a tragedy connected with the manor: With the invasion of the Russian army in 1945, the family and their three children panicked and committed suicide by ingesting poisonous substances. The bodies were then buried in the manor park by the Russian occupiers while the manor was completely looted. At the site discovered years later, there is now a memorial stone.
