Old Mansion Pod Dębem in Konstancin-Jeziorna
Piłsudskiego 21, Konstancin-Jeziorna
In Konstancin-Jeziorno, driving along the main north-south artery "ul. Józefa Piłsudskiego", you will inevitably pass this striking building. The villa "Pod Dębem" - regionally also called "Villa under the Oak" - may not look old at first glance, but in fact it is one of the first residences of its kind in Konstancin.
The building from 1902 is a plastered brick construction with two storeys on an irregular ground plan. The northwest side is dominated by an open, square tower with a flat tent roof. Above the three arched windows on the main façade is the coat of arms of the Polish noble Godziemba family; a pine tree with roots in a red field. Interestingly, stylised oak leaves can be found in the decorative metal fence of the villa, which is probably why it got its current name "Under the Oak".
The interior with paneled rooms and stucco work has been largely preserved. The guest house "Szwajcarka" in Swiss house style, which originally belonged to the privately used villa, houses a lounge bar and a restaurant.
