Palace in Mała Wieś
Pałac Mała Wieś, Mała Wieś
Classical palace in Mała Wieś, powiat grójecki, Mazovia
The palace in Mała Wieś is a neoclassical complex worth seeing in the greater Warsaw area and a typical example of a Polish magnate's residence in historic Mazovia. The main building was designed in 1783 by the famous architect Hilary Szpilowski for Bazyli Walicki and over the decades was owned by other important Polish families, including Zamoyski and Lubomirski.
Originally, the palace was to have two semicircular gallery wings, similar to the classical palace in Śmiełów or the palace in Pawłowice, but these plans were not realized.
After 1945, the complex was in a desolate state and was taken over by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1947, the mansion served as a summer residence for ministers of the Polish People's Republic.
