The Gąsecki mansion in Poland
Willa Gąseckich, Józefów
The town of Józefów near Warsaw was a popular resort towards the end of the 19th century, similar to Milanówek. Even today, the cityscape is dominated by detached houses with spacious plots, built as summer residences by wealthy citizens from Warsaw.
One of the prominent residences in Józefów is the villa of pharmaceutical entrepreneur Stanisław Gąsecki, who was best known in Poland for manufacturing headache pills. The building from the early 1930s combines elements of historism with regional architectural forms. The elongated property has its own access to a small lake, behind which extends a nature reserve of the Vistula River.
The historic house is abandoned and in need of renovation (2020).
