The former moated castle in Schneidlingen is located between Aschersleben and Magdeburg in the Salzlandkreis district. The core of the four-winged castle is already mentioned in the 14th century as a possession of the bishopric of Halberstadt. In the 17th century, the castle received the reconstruction in the Renaissance style that is visible today. In the post-war period, the castle complex served various state uses; in the last years before it became vacant, it housed a retirement home. Today, Schneidlingen Castle is a private property and not open to the public.
The representative interiors are located in the west wing of the complex; valuable original wooden ceilings have been preserved and secured here. Parts of the castle have been renovated in the meantime; among other things, the entire roof areas were renewed and the tower in the inner courtyard, which is over 20 meters high, was renovated.
