Castle from the 13th Century, originally built as a Fortified House and renovated and expanded in the 17th and 18th centuries. The estate sits on a prominent rock outcrop with panoramic views and features a 2-hectare Park, a chapel, outbuildings, and a french garden.

A medieval château in Southern France

Located 15 km from Penne d'Agenais and 30 km from Lot, the village in Quercy Blanc sits on a rocky promontory at the crossroads of Lot, Lot-et-Garonne, and Tarn-et-Garonne. The earliest traces of settlement date back to the Bronze Age, but the village was formally established in the High Middle Ages. The involvement of the Gascon nobility in the Hundred Years' War was notable. The castle is accessible via a path with a gate leading into the 2-hectare wooded park and offers a stunning view of the valley.

The property's origins are documented in a papal bull issued by Pope Alexander IV in 1258. By 1500, the estate had passed into the possession of the d'Aspremont family, Barons of Roquecor. In the 17th century, the lordship of Labarde was elevated to a barony, granting it judicial authority. During the 17th century, the castle was adapted to the tastes of the period. After changing hands several times and falling into neglect, it was restored by a private couple who revived its original charm. The castle features a rectangular plan over three levels with mansard roofs.

This historically rich castle, built from white Quercy stone and situated in a commanding location, offers a wealth of historical and unique character: a chapel with vaulted ceilings, a reception room with French-style ceiling leading to a French garden, a library, a kitchen with a large fireplace, 5 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms. It also includes an independent apartment with a living room and 2 bedrooms, a former stable, and a confessional in an outbuilding. Below the castle, accessible via a walkway, is a 12th-century tower.
